Our list is based on the square footage of the casinos – not including hotel space – and we have taken this information from the Nevada Gaming Commission to make sure that our stats and figures are as accurate as possible. 1. Wynn Las Vegas
‘Go Big or Go Home’ is the saying, but if you are going big in Las Vegas then you need to go to the Wynn! Wynn Las Vegas is by far the biggest casino in the city, with a massive 191,424 square foot of gaming space. Developer Steve Wynn purchased what had been the Desert Inn casino resort in 2000, eventually opening the Wynn in April 2005. The original idea was to call this resort ‘La Reve’ (‘the dream’ in French) but Mr. Wynn was convinced that naming it after himself made more sense in terms of brand recognition, and so Wynn Las Vegas was born.

The Wynn offers just about everything you could hope to expect from a luxury Las Vegas resort, including a golf course, high-end restaurants and stores and almost 3,000 rooms. One of those restaurants is the Wing Lei, which has the distinction of being the first Chinese restaurant in the United States to be awarded a Michelin star. Today the Wynn has become one of the iconic Vegas casinos, and is reportedly one of the most photographed casinos in the world.

2. MGM Grand
The name MGM is associated with entertainment, and that is certainly front and center in this casino and resort, where there are hundreds of different attractions to choose from.
The MGM Grand Casino in Las Vegas is a sprawling entertainment complex known for its grandeur and quirky features. One of its most distinctive elements is the enormous lion statue that greets guests at the entrance, paying homage to MGM’s iconic roaring lion logo. Originally the entrance was a giant lion’s mouth, but this was discontinued in 1999, in part because many Asian visitors regarded entering past the teeth of a ferocious lion to be bad luck.

3. Bellagio
Bellagio may not be the biggest casino in Vegas, but it is certainly one of the most famous. Those fountains we all know from countless TV shows and movies are one of the big draws on the Vegas Strip. The fountains are choreographed to ‘dance’ along with selected musical numbers, which over the years have included Sinatra’s ‘Luck Be A Lady’, ‘My Heart Will Go On’ by Celine Dion and – of course – ‘Viva Las Vegas’ by the King himself.

5. Mandalay Bay
Mandalay Bay is one of the biggest casinos on the Las Vegas Strip, with a sprawling 135,000-square-foot gaming floor. The casino offers over 1,700 slot machines and 122 table games, making it a magnet for gaming enthusiasts. One of the main attractions here is the massive Shark Reef Aquarium, home to more than 2,000 sea creatures. 6. Santa Fe Station
The hotel part of Santa Fe Station is a lot smaller than a lot of the others on this list, but this is more than compensated for by the huge casino. This resort is more about generating a rustic and family-friendly appeal, rather than the glitz and glamor on offer at some of its rivals. The casino can certainly stand up to the competition, with well over 2,000 slots and 40 gaming tables operating around the clock.

7. Fontainebleau Casino
The Fontainebleau Casino is a new entry to our list, having opened as recently as December 2023. It’s pretty noticeable now though, as it’s 67 stories makes it the tallest building on the Strip, only looked down upon by the 1,149 feet Strat Tower, which doesn’t count as a building since it’s not habitable. In fact the hotel was constructed in 2008, but the property has changed hands numerous times since then, until finally being completed and opened to the public in December 2023.

Because it is the new (big) kid on the block, we don’t have a full breakdown of how the 150,000 square feet of the casino space is divided up. We know that 14,000 sq ft is dedicated to sports and racing in the form of ‘The Tavern’ but besides that we will have to wait for the Gaming Commission to update their records before we can give any more details on how the rest of the space is used.

8. South Point Casino and Hotel
South Point Casino is not on the Vegas Strip, being located a few miles to the… well, you can probably guess the direction. While not one of the most iconic names in Vegas, the South Point – formerly South Coast – is still one of the biggest casinos in the city. With more than 2,300 slots and around 60 table games there is more than enough gaming action available here.

9. Orleans Hotel and Casino
Venice, Paris, New York, Egypt – Las Vegas resorts are famous for mimicking the characteristics of other famous places. In the case of the Orleans Hotel and Casino, they are proud to bring a taste of the Big Easy to Sin City. 10. Venetian Resort
Vegas and Venice are very different cities, but the Venetian manages to transport at least a flavor of the Italian city to Nevada. The homage includes a canal with gondolas as well as replicas of the Doge’s Palace and the Rialto Bridge. Once visitors are done admiring the sights, there is plenty more to enjoy at one of the country’s most luxurious resorts.

Of course, there is more than one way to measure the size of a casino, and the number of slots and table games is also an important consideration.
Red Rock Casino doesn’t quite make our list of the biggest casinos in Vegas, with its gaming floor space of 118,000sq ft, but it tops the list for the number of slot machines available. If you are a slots fan then make your way over to Charleston Boulevard to take your pick from more than 2,600, making all the racket you would expect!
